Info on the Fly

Quick and Seamless

Making important information, whether it is new product presentations, sporting events or the latest news, available in public spaces in high resolution AV formats is vital to securing the attention and understanding of audiences. To achieve this, content must be able to switch quickly and easily between individual displays, or even between individual displays and a video wall.

Video Wall & Matrix Switch in One

Flexibly Definable

The technology behind the solution for this requirement uses a central 8×8 matrix switch that can switch high resolution 18G AV content from any of the feed devices to the displays. AV content from the playback devices can either appear on individual displays or control a video wall distributed over several outputs.

PRESENTATION SCENARIO

IN A RETAIL ENVIRONMENT

In combination with multiple extender systems for bridging long distances, this solution can also be used to feed displays placed throughout the building with the same content, for example for digital signage, information or advertising purposes.

Starting with a cost-efficient, high quality 50m Cat.x system, a hybrid cable available in lengths of 10m – 100m and a cable mounted fibre optic extender system with a maximum range of 300m, the system covers all the usual internal bridging distances.

This application scenario is very common, for example in the retail sector, where product images and descriptions are to be sent alternately on a video wall and on displays distributed throughout the sales area. But above all in betting offices and sports bars, where this arrangement allows the most interesting current sports events to be shown on the Video Wall, while the more secondary ones can be shown on the individual displays distributed throughout the premises.

8×8 HDMI 18G Matrix

With Video Wall

The high performance 8×8 seamless matrix switch for resolutions up to 4K UHD (3840×2160@60Hz) with some additional features that go far beyond the common functionality of a matrix switch. This allows any number of selectable outputs to be linked together, which can then switch one of the 8 input signals to output as partial images of a video wall with n * m displays. For n * m, any combinations where n + m are less than or equal to 8.

Up to 2 video walls can be defined from the available 8 outputs. edges of the 8 input signals can therefore be placed either on a video wall or, if not all 8 outputs for video walls are used, on one of the remaining outputs.

The bezel correction can be defined using configuration software and depending on the screen type used. Audio signals can be fed or decoupled separately for each input and output. This means that both external audio signals can be embedded in the HDMI data stream and embedded audio data can be played back on external audio devices.

For demo and presentation purposes, any input can be sent to any output in any order, time-controlled and with adjustable timeout. The system is configured and administered via an IP network using software or a WebGUI in which all settings can be defined in detail. Once the routings have been set, they can be saved as presets – up to 8 in number. The most important settings can also be made directly on the device using the front keys.

Optical Connection

The Superlative

The Fibre Optic HDMI 18G Extender uses a standard Fibre Optic Class OM3 multimode cable with LC duplex connectors. The FO transmission medium can therefore be selected up to a maximum transmission distance of 300m. The Extender transmits AV signals with a bandwidth of 18GBit/s and supports 4K UHD resolutions 3840×2160@60Hz 4:4:4 8Bit. It can handle colour depths up to 12bits without any problems and can handle several HDR formats such as HDR 10, Dolby Vision, HLG and various multi-channel audio formats such as Dolby Atmos, True HD and 7.1 with a sampling depth of 24bits and a sampling rate of 192kHz. The fly leads on the HDMI side of the Receiver and Transmitter provide increased reliability through the economical use of galvanic connectors.

Cat.6 Extender

For 18G HDMI and IR

The Cat.6 HDMI 18G & IR Extender transports HDMI AV signals with resolutions up to 4k UHD (3840×2160@60Hz 4:4:4 8Bit) over distances up to 50m. It uses a standard low-cost Cat.6 cable as the transmission medium. It can handle HDR formats such as HLG, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision as well as various audio formats such as Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, LPCM, Dolby Digital/Plus/EX, Dolby True HD and many more. In addition to the HDMI signals, IR control signals are also transmitted in the direction from the receiver to the transmitter, so the feed device can be controlled from the display using an IR remote control. An HDMI loop-out connector is available on the transmitter for monitoring, so that the transmitted content can also be viewed directly on the source device. The power supply of the receiver is done via PoC using a Cat.x cable, so that an additional power supply isn’t required on the display side of the receiver core.

Flexible Long-Distance Line

18G Hybrid Cable for HDMI and DVI

The Micro HDMI Fibre Optic Hybrid cable, available in lengths of 10m, 20m, 30m, 40m, 50m, 70m and 100m, uses sophisticated fibre and copper hybrid cable technology to transport bandwidth-hungry signals. The modular nature of the cable makes it capable of a wide range of applications: The actual connectors are designed as Micro HDMI. The inclusion of HDMI and DVI adapter attachments the cable can be used as Micro HDMI, HDMI or DVI or as an adapter between the two interfaces.

With a bandwidth of 18Gbit/s the cable transmits HDMI 2.0 resolutions up to 3840×2160@60Hz 4:4:4 8bit. DVI resolutions can be up to 1920×1200. HDCP 2.2 is supported for the transmission of copy-protected content. The cable is powered completely from the AV interface of the source or target device. A power supply is not required.
