THE FUTURE OF SCHOOL

Interactive training environments supported by multimedia AV media are becoming increasingly important. Interactive smartboards with high resolution displays, touchscreen and drawing functions are replacing conventional blackboards, whiteboards and projectors.

Audio signals must either be extracted from the AV content or it must be possible to play back the lectures of the lecturers and participants, which have been picked up by room microphones, via the room loudspeakers. It must be possible to control the whole thing in a simple and intuitive way so that the content and not complicated operating concepts can shape the presentation.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL EDUCATION SYSTEM

AV CONTROL AND MORE

We have created an interactive training room solution using the products described below. It allows two AV sources, such as a lecturer’s laptop and a training room PC, to be distributed via HDBaseT using a switchable desktop or wall mounted transmitter module. The transmitter connects to a remote receiver which is in turn connected to a smartboard located in a central lecture area.

This system controls the transmission of AV content, as well as additional features such as audio volume, room lighting or the retraction and extension of projector screens, using a tablet. The USB signal for the touchscreen function of the Smartboard is transmitted back to the training room PC. The system utilises the full 5play feature set of the HDBaseT standard, which allows USB and other signals to be sent alongside AV signals through the Cat.x cable.

The tablet, transmitter and receiver interact via RS232 data. The USB Type C multiport converter with splitter function allows a second screen to be connected to the lecturer’s laptop – e.g. to display the moderator’s view of presentations on the notebook screen and the presentation view on the 2nd screen.

PRESENTATION SYSTEM

WITH INTUITIVE OPERATING CONCEPT

The HDBaseT Presentation System is a training room system with a wide range of functions. It consists of three components communicating via RS232, a connection panel, a switch panel (both for wall or table mounting) and a standalone receiver unit. The receiver unit forms the core of the installation, switching all inputs and outputs to the corresponding peripherals, i.e.: AV content to the displays, audio content to the audio line outputs or via the integrated power amplifier directly to passive speakers.

The HDMI display connects to a Smartboard with touch screen. The receiver unit is equipped with a USB input for the data of the touch screen function.

The connector panel houses the AV inputs of the system as well as a switch that allows switching between either two HDMI input sources or one HDMI and one VGA source. When using a VGA source, a separate analogue audio signal can be fed in as VGA does not transmit audio signals.

The connection between connection panel and receiver unit is established via HDBaseT connection using a Cat. cable. Thanks to the 5Play concept implemented with HDBaseT, all RS232 control signals as well as the USB return channel for the touch screen function of the smart board can also be transmitted via this.

The connection between the panel and the switching panel is also made via cat.x cable, but this is not an HDBaseT connection but a pure RS-232 connection. Finally, the input source and audio volume can be adjusted, and the display can be switched on and off via the control panel. The receiver unit supplies both the connection panel and the control panel with power through the cat.x cables. The system can be easily configured and administered using WebGUI.

18G AV SPLITTER

FOR 4K AV CONTENT

The Lindy 2 Port HDMI 2.0 18G Splitter with audio provides a multi-functional solution for distributing high definition HDMI AV content to two displays simultaneously. With a bandwidth of 18Gbits, it effortlessly transmits 4K UHD resolutions up to 4096×2160@60Hz 4:4:4 8bit and supports HDCP 2.2 for the transmission of even copy-protected content.

The audio signal embedded in the data stream at the input can either be fed out via the HDMI outputs or extracted separately via a separate optical S/PDIF output up to 7.1 channels digitally or an analogue audio socket as an LPCM 2-channel signal. For example, to feed an external audio system, soundbar or similar and generate an immersive AV experience with multi-channel audio. In addition, the splitter includes a downscaler function that allows a 4K input signal to be downscaled to 2 x Full HD, for example, if a 4K graphics card but no or only a 4K display is available on site in the application.
